UCR’s Department of Earth Sciences focuses on research and education about Earth’s dynamic nature and history. Students and faculty investigate geological processes operating at a wide range of spatial and temporal scales and our research interests span many disciplines within the Earth Sciences.

- Earth Sciences Welcomes a New Musuem Scientist (November 3, 2015)
The Department of Earth Sciences Welcomes our new Museum Scientist Jessica Miller Camp. Jessica comes to us from Hendersonville, NC and has a B.S. in Geology with a Biology minor from Appalachian State University in 2003. She has a M.S. in Geoscience from the University of Iowa in 2010 and will be defending there this academic year for a Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Science. Jessica has a vertebrate paleontologist studying the phylogeny, taxonomy, ecomorphology, biogeography, and diversity in relation to climate change of alligatorines as well as the morphology and extinction dynamics of Lystrosaurus, a dicynodont that survived and proliferated following the P–T mass extinction.
